The first electrode placement operation in the brain at Jam Specialty Hospital

The patient was a young man who presented with drug-resistant epilepsy. In the initial evaluations, including MRI and LTM (video EEG), the seizure focus could not be accurately identified, and it was necessary to perform electrode placement for precise localization of the seizure focus. In this method, a series of needle-shaped electrodes are placed within the brain tissue in suspicious areas by creating a two-millimeter hole in the skull, and afterward, the patient undergoes LTM (video EEG) again to accurately identify the seizure focus. This important and vital procedure was performed by Dr. Wahid Heydari, a specialist in neurosurgery and spine from Canada.
